Maynard looking shake off knocks

Nicky Maynard wants to shake off an injury plagued pre-season and hit the heights once more for Bristol City. Maynard finished as the Championship's joint-top scorer last term and scored 21 goals in all competitions but he has been frustrated by a knee problem while preparing for the forthcoming campaign. He told Bristol City Player: "Obviously it's not been the best pre-season for me. I trained for about three or four days before the injury happened and now I've missed all the games. "I have to wait and see how the knee settles. It's important to rest and not rush things. Hopefully I'll come back fitter and stronger. "It's not a case of being out for months, more days and weeks. I'm playing the waiting game. "I'm aiming to match, if not go better than my goalscoring record last season. To beat that figure would be tremendous and that's what I aim to do."
