Lansdown: Robins building for future

04 January 2010 16:29
Lansdown won't confirm or deny whether the Robins will conduct business over the next month - with the decision centring on what situations arise - but he admits existing players may have to make way for any new faces.[LNB]"It's got to be a long-term strategy. I don't like the January transfer window because too many short-term decisions are made. We have the loan system we can use throughout the season and we've already got two season-long loanees in already," he told BBC Radio Bristol.[LNB]"We'll look at what is available but I don't want to bring somebody here for a couple of minutes. There's no short-term fix available...we're trying to build something here that is sustainable.[LNB]"I'm not going to make any promises that any players are going to come in during January. If we get the opportunity to bring someone in at the right price and if it fits with what we want to do long-term then we'll go for it.[LNB]"That would happen whether players move out or not. You can't keep bringing players in and not move players out because you end up with too many players and can't satisfy them. In a way, some players do need to move out before we bring players in because that's the way football should be."[LNB][LNB]
