The Robins had plans for a new purpose-built arena in the Ashton Vale region of the city 'approved in principal' in November and they were given the green light at a meeting of Bristol City Council on Wednesday night after the club responded to a number of questions over the stadium's viability.[LNB]Lansdown was delighted with the outcome of the meeting and stressed the importance of the move going ahead.[LNB]"It's very pleasing. We didn't take anything for granted but the team did well and the result was the right one," he told BBC Radio Bristol.[LNB]"The need for the stadium is two-fold. The catchment area of Bristol is huge but we're not attracting them to our football club in the city because we don't have the facilities.[LNB]"The stadium will allow us to attract more people in and they will come to a new stadium. It also allows the club to be sustainable and allow it to stand on its own feet."[LNB][LNB]
