Keane laments missed chances

The Bristol City goalkeeper had an afternoon to remember, despite the slippery conditions, and made his best save on 86 minutes to secure his team a point.[LNB]There looked only one outcome when Ipswich substitute Pablo Counago latched onto the rebound after Grant Leadbitter's shot from outside the box had rebounded off a post.[LNB]But Counago delayed his finish and Gerken somehow recovered from diving to his left to spring forward and rob the Ipswich player with his boot.[LNB]"I'm hugely frustrated because we had a lot of good chances to win the game and that was the best," Keane said.[LNB]"You have to stick those away. We are making progress as a team and there were a lot of positives in the performance, but we can't afford to let opponents off the hook.[LNB]"I'm happy with a lot of things, but the position we are in requires wins and we should have done better than a point today.[LNB]"Now we have a big week coming up with two games and it is essential we take our opportunities against Peterborough on Tuesday night."[LNB]City striker Danny Haynes had an unlucky afternoon against his old club, denied twice by the woodwork in the space of 10 second-half minutes.[LNB]But home manager Gary Johnson admitted City owed their point to Gerken and could take little consolation from a clean sheet in the circumstances.[LNB]"We were too open defensively and thank goodnes Dean was in excellent form," he said. "He spilled a shot early on when it skimmed off the surface, but it didn't affect his confidence and from then on he was in great form.[LNB]"Some of our players are a little short on confidence and we need a win to lift things at the moment.[LNB]"But we're still in touch with the play-off positions and promotion is won over 46 games. We are getting crosses in from wide positions but need better movement in the box and more players getting on the end of them."[LNB]Haynes hit a post for the first time on 51 minutes with a low shot from just inside the box from Evander Sno's lay-off.[LNB]And it was the Dutchman again who put Haynes in 10 minutes later. Once more he beat Arran Lee-Barrett, making his first Championship start, but this time the ball rebounded off the other post.[LNB]Gerken was busy throughout, making early saves from Jon Stead and Leadbitter. At the start of the second half he sprang to his left to keep out a fierce drive from Alan Quinn.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
