Jones: Cardiff worthy of the win

The third-round replay had looked set to go to extra-time at the Cardiff City Stadium but Michael Chopra fired across goal in the 74th minute and, when the ball rebounded off the far post, Robins full-back Bradley Orr poked it into his own net.[LNB]"I felt we could have got our noses in front in the first half but it was a good all-round performance and we deserved the victory," said Jones.[LNB]"We have had a virus in the camp for the last week or so and many of the players are breathing heavy but hopefully we are coming to the end of it. Michael Chopra was physically sick during the match and other players are suffering in the dressing room.[LNB]"Everyone put a shift in tonight and we will get them up and running on Thursday because we have another tough match on the weekend, but full credit to my lads after playing three games in six days.[LNB]"The FA Cup is the best competition in the world and it put this club on the world stage when we reached the final.[LNB]"Leicester are a good side and it will be another difficult match but we will be ready for them."[LNB]The Bluebirds were quicker on the ball in the early stages and Ross McCormack went close before the Championship's leading scorer Peter Whittingham forced a brilliant save from Robins keeper Dean Gerken.[LNB]Cardiff began the second half as they finished the first with Chopra causing all sorts of trouble for the visitors' defence but, despite finding himself in good positions, he was unable to engineer a breakthrough until his shot off the post resulted in Cardiff taking the lead.[LNB]The Robins pushed three up front in the closing minutes but the Cardiff defence held firm.[LNB]"It got to the stage where only one goal was going to win it but we didn't really create anything today," said Robins manager Gary Johnson.[LNB]"Michael Chopra is brilliant at playing on the edge and he did that all through the game but both teams competed, tackles were fierce although the pitch was a little uneven.[LNB]"We now have some time to prepare for the league meeting against Cardiff at our ground and we will be ready for them.[LNB]"It was a bit scrappy today and hopefully it will be a better match at Ashton Gate."[LNB]Cardiff have been struggling with a small squad throughout the season and it looks as though the transfer window will pass them by.[LNB]"I don't know whether we will get anyone in before the end of January but hopefully we should have a few of the long-term injured back playing in the next week or so," said Jones.[LNB][LNB]
