Johnson: Robins' profile is growing

The Robins will have four men involved either in World Cup qualifiers or Under-21 international matches during the next week. Goalkeeper Stephen Henderson, defenders Jamie McAllister and James Wilson and on-loan striker Stern John have all been called-up to represent their respective countries at various levels. Midfielder Gavin Williams was named in the Wales squad for their home games against Finland and Germany but was forced to pull out through injury. Seldom have City been represented in such numbers at international level, and manager Johnson believes the club will benefit from a growing profile. "It will definitely help when we are looking to bring in new players," said Johnson. "Players elsewhere will look at that and realise that joining Bristol City is not going to damage their international prospects, and that has to be good for the club. "We haven't been high enough in the Football League to be able to speak to international players about coming to Ashton Gate. But this club is now high-profile and quite a few of our Championship games are shown on television, which means international managers are able to see our players more."
