Johnson praises keeper's heroics

The Championship side won 1-0 at Griffin Park thanks to a Nicky Maynard goal just before the hour mark but Johnson admitted his goalkeeper Dean Gerken had gone beyond the call of duty to keep his side in front. Gerken made a trio of fine saves from Sam Saunders and the League One side also missed a golden opportunity when Steve Kabba rounded the keeper but slipped and shot wide before Saunders headed against the bar in the later stages. Johnson described striker Danny Haynes as childish after he was sent off for hacking down Ryan Dickson after earlier being booked for dissent. He said: "I'm disappointed in Danny. He has got to learn from the first booking. "He isn't a youngster he has to grow up. "You are always relieved to be through and we needed Dean Gerken to do what he did. "He made some fantastic saves. He has gone beyond the call of duty." Brentford manager Andy Scott said: "Underneath I'm delighted but I'm frustrated we didn't win the game. "I'm proud of the lads and pleased that a week into the season we are a cohesive unit."
