John not up to scratch - Johnson

Trinidad & Tobago international John joined the Robins on an initial short-term deal from Southampton in October, scoring twice in his first eight appearances. City were obliged to extend the 32-year-old's loan at Ashton Gate until the end of the season, but John failed to find the net and often found himself on the periphery of the squad. "I was disappointed with Stern's involvement towards the end of the season," Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post. "I left him out because I didn't feel he was giving us anything. "Until you get to know that, you have to play him to see if he can give you the sort of game you are looking for. We had to get him because he is very experienced Championship striker with a very good goals-to-games ratio. "To do that we had to agree to take him on loan until the end of the season and look after his contract. We were committed to taking him on loan until the end of the season."
