Clarkson rescues Robins

A late strike from David Clarkson rescued Bristol City and denied Coventry their first Championship victory in their last five games. David Bell's first Championship goal of the season just after half-time looked to have given the Sky Blues a fortunate victory. But substitute Clarkson fired home eight minutes from time to salvage a 1-1 draw for the Robins, who missed a hatful of chances to secure all three points. The deadlock was broken just a minute into the second half and it was the visitors who struck first. The Robins failed to clear their lines after a scramble in the penalty area and Bell lashed home with his right foot from the edge of the area. To make matters worse the home side lost leading scorer Nicky Maynard to injury five minutes into the second half. But just as it looked as though it was going to be one of those days for the home side they equalised eight minutes from time with Louis Carey heading on for Clarkson to despatch a right-foot finish into the back of the net eight minutes from time.
