Bristol City sweating on Nathan Baker ahead of Reading clash

Bristol City will assess the fitness of loan signing Nathan Baker ahead of their Sky Bet Championship game with Reading at Ashton Gate.

Baker was forced off in the opening quarter-of-an-hour of Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Preston with a back injury and Derrick Williams, his Deepdale replacement, will deputise again on Saturday if the central defender signed from Aston Villa fails to recover in time.

Wales Under-21 striker Wes Burns should take his place on the Robins bench after missing the last two games with a thigh problem.

Goalkeeper Frank Fielding will be making his first appearance at Ashton Gate this season after ending a five-week absence with a shoulder injury at Birmingham last weekend.

Reading could recall Anton Ferdinand, with the defender expected to have recovered from the injury that kept him out of Tuesday's defeat against Derby.

Manager Steve Clarke is without striker Orlando Sa, however, as the striker begins a three-match suspension after being sent off on Tuesday for appearing to headbutt Derby's Jason Shackell.

Defender Michael Hector is expected to retain his starting place after returning against Derby having missed out on their 5-1 defeat of Ipswich last weekend.

Winger Paolo Hurtado is also in contention to feature, but Clarke is not expected to react to defeat by making many changes.
