Lee Johnson faces goalkeeping dilemma ahead of Bristol City's clash with Preston

Manager Lee Johnson faces a goalkeeping dilemma as his Bristol City side prepare to host Preston.

Frank Fielding's participation in the game is in doubt after he was forced off after half an hour against Brentford in midweek.

Ivan Lucic was the man brought off the bench for a league debut when he replaced Fielding, and the Austrian could take his place in the starting line-up, despite competition from the more experienced Richard O'Donnell.

However Gary O'Neil is expected to miss the festive period after suffering a grade one hamstring tear, while Joel Ekstrand continues his recovery.

Ben Pearson is a concern for Preston after coming off against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

The midfielder took a blow to the ankle region and though boss Simon Grayson confirmed there was "no major damage", the quick turnaround may work against him.

Aiden McGeady (groin) was back on the bench as an unused substitute and could be recalled to the XI, while Paul Gallagher (calf) and Stevie May (knee) are close to comebacks and leaving a treatment room that John Welsh (calf) and Calum Woods (knee) are still occupying.

Attacking pair Jermaine Beckford and Eoin Doyle will complete the three-match suspensions they were handed after being sent off for fighting each other at Sheffield Wednesday.
