Elliott out for Robins

Bristol City will be without captain Wade Elliott when they host Preston after the FA upheld his red card at Swindon.

A Robins statement revealed how a 'lack of clear video evidence' was why the FA's disciplinary panel did not overturn the decision to send off the former Burnley man and he will serve the first of his three-game ban this weekend.

Mark Little (hamstring) and Wes Burns (ankle) both look set to miss out once more but they are Steve Cotterill's only absentees as he looks for his side to bounce back after their first League One defeat of the season last weekend.

They will remain at the top of the division this weekend, whatever happens at Ashton Gate.

Jermaine Beckford could make his Preston debut against the league leaders.

The striker, who is match fit after appearing regularly for Bolton this season, made a shock switch to North End on Thursday to add to a stable of strikers including Joe Garner, Callum Robinson and Kevin Davies.

North End have lost three league games on the spin but have Gibraltar's Scott Wiseman and Northern Ireland's Alan Browne back from international duty.

Winger Andy Little (calf) played 45 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday but this clash may come too soon for him, while Bailey Wright (groin) and Jordan Hugill (knee) remain absent.
