Elliott needs to prove fitness

Bristol City head coach Sean O'Driscoll will hope midfielder Marvin Elliott is fresh enough to line up against Nottingham Forest on Saturday after his midweek excursions with Jamaica.

Elliott played for 90 minutes in his country's 0-0 draw with Mexico in a World Cup qualifier and now faces a lengthy journey back to Bristol.

With Neil Kilkenny ruled out and Cole Skuse having had an injection on his knee to settle his injury down, O'Driscoll will hope Elliott is ready to feature against the side he managed for the first half of the season before his controversial departure on Boxing Day.

Left-back Greg Cunningham came through Republic of Ireland's 2-0 win over Poland unscathed while striker Wes Burns also reported back with a clean bill of health after scoring on his international debut for Wales Under-21s.

City are looking for their third straight home win to close the gap on themselves and npower Championship safety.

Adlene Guedioura could return to the Nottingham Forest squad.

Guedioura has been away with Algeria at the African Nations Cup and returned to England with a bug. He has not trained this week but caretaker manager Rob Kelly will check on the midfielder.

Kelly, in charge following this week's departure of Alex McLeish and ahead of Billy Davies' return as boss, will also assess Daniel Ayala ahead of the trip.

The on-loan Norwich centre-half has been absent with a hamstring injury but is making progress in his recovery.
