Managerless Bristol City have fitness doubts ahead of Middlesbrough clash

Managerless Bristol City have a couple of fitness concerns ahead of Saturday's fixture against Middlesbrough.

First-team coach John Pemberton and Under-21 coach Wade Elliott will look after the Robins after Steve Cotterill was sacked on Thursday night.

Cotterill had said he had "two worries" for the match without naming the players in question, although striker Luke Freeman could be one after going off with a dead leg in the 2-1 defeat to Preston last time out.

On-loan goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell made his debut earlier in the week, a change forced upon City by the injury to Frank Fielding, and it remains to be seen if the Wigan man will feature again.

Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson will be assessed ahead of the game after missing the midweek victory over Brentford.

Gibson picked up a knock in training, with Fernando Amorebieta deputising in the centre of the defence at Griffin Park.

Boro boss Aitor Karanka revealed the club were close to signing Athletic Bilbao striker Kike Sola on loan, although he is unlikely to be available this weekend.

Karanka told a press conference: "I think we are close. He's an experienced player, he can play as a second striker or a number 10, so for us it can be really good because he's bringing us something that we don't have."
