Fontaine blow for Robins Bristol City manager Derek McInnes will be without Liam Fontaine for the televised trip against Hull after the defender picked up a calf tear in Tuesday's 4-3 defeat at Turf Moor.

The long-serving centre-back, who will miss City's next few games, was replaced by Louis Carey with 35 minutes to go of the thrilling encounter. Stephen Pearson was a last-minute withdrawal from the squad that travelled on Tuesday and McInnes is hopeful he'll return to training before the clash. Neil Kilkenny and Marvin Elliott remain on the sidelines although defender Greg Cunningham could be available for selection in late November after making a quicker recovery than expected from his ankle ligament injury.

Hull strikers Jay Simpson and Sone Aluko are expected to return to the starting line-up. The pair made way for German forward Nick Proschwitz and Aaron Mclean in the midweek defeat at Middlesbrough, but manager Steve Bruce may be tempted to revert back after his side lacked a cutting edge.

Defender Joe Dudgeon is still struggling with the knee injury that has kept him out for the last four matches, but Abdoulaye Faye, James Chester - back from a hamstring injury - Paul McShane and Alex Bruce are all in contention for a place in the starting line-up, while boss Steve Bruce must decide whether to stick with Andy Dawson and Liam Rosenior in defence.

Bruce has no new injury or suspension problems, but midfielder Robert Koren remains sidelined as the Tigers chase their sixth win in their last 10 league matches.
