Wagstaff not ready for return

Bristol City will remain without Scott Wagstaff when they host Gillingham.

The former Charlton midfielder has not featured since February 4 with a shoulder injury and while he has stepped up his recovery he will not be considered on Saturday.

But boss Steve Cotterill could hand Stephen Pearson his first start of the season following an ankle injury. The midfielder came through 90 minutes for the club's development side and then stepped off the bench at Sheffield United last weekend.

Cotterill remains without Marvin Elliott as his side look to bounce back from a disappointing display at Bramall Lane that saw City beaten 3-0.

Gillingham will be without Chris Whelpdale, Ryan Inniss and Michael Harriman for the trip.

Midfielder Whelpdale was forced off after just 25 minutes of last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Oldham nursing an ankle injury.

On-loan centre-back Inniss missed the clash altogether due to a hamstring problem while fellow defender Harriman was absent with a similar complaint.

Striker Danny Kedwell is also unlikely to be included in Peter Taylor's matchday squad at Ashton Gate, despite playing for the Kent club's under-21 side earlier this week after recovering from hernia surgery.
