Hamer time for City

Ben Hamer could make his Sky Bet Championship debut for Bristol City in the clash against former club Brentford at Ashton Gate.

Hamer was drafted in by City on a season-long loan from Leicester for their Capital One Cup encounter at Luton two days ago after regular goalkeeper Frank Fielding was sidelined due to a shoulder problem suffered during training.

Elsewhere, wing-back Joe Bryan may also feature after a knee problem sustained against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend proved not to be as serious as first thought.

"Thankfully, he will be okay very soon," City manager Steve Cotterill said. "He has had a scan and he has a little bit of bone bruising and a little trace of fluid. I think that will clear up, and he might just be all right for the weekend."

Brentford's preparations are in disarray following their humiliating 4-0 cup defeat by League Two Oxford in midweek.

Boss Marinus Dijkhuizen made 11 changes for the Griffin Park clash but some of those were enforced with Harlee Dean and Alan Judge out with illness and Spanish midfielder Jota carrying a knock.

Striker Andre Gray's participation remains in doubt due to a proposed move to Hull and Danish defender Andreas Bjelland suffered a knee injury against Oxford due to the poor state of the pitch.

Nico Yennaris also picked up a knock in midweek while Marcos Tebar is out with a hamstring injury, Josh McEachran has a broken foot and Sam Saunders and Lewis Macleod are short of match fitness.
