Wilbraham leads way for Robins

Top scorer Aaron Wilbraham netted for the 17th time this season as Bristol City continued to show a clean pair of heels to their League One promotion rivals with a 3-0 win over Crewe at Ashton Gate.

The experienced striker broke the deadlock with a 32nd-minute volley from Luke Ayling's curling cross into the box, timing his run perfectly to score from eight yards.

Aden Flint headed the second with a powerful effort from Marlon Pack's 42nd-minute corner. It was the centre-back's fifth goal in nine games and his eighth of the campaign.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas completed an emphatic victory with the third after 84 minutes, dribbling past two defenders in a crowded box before rounding Paul Rachubka and slotting home.

Emmanuel-Thomas could have had a hat-trick, volleying wide after 77 minutes and seeing a fierce injury-time strike parried by Rachubka.

The Crewe keeper also made fine saves from Wilbraham, Greg Cunningham and Luke Freeman as his struggling side were totally outplayed, despite a wholehearted effort.
