Wilkins boosts Seagulls ranks

Brighton & Hove Albion have bolstered their squad with the signings of QPR midfielder Nick Ward and French schemer Alexis Bertin.

Twenty-one-year-old Ward joined Rangers last summer from Perth Glory and has scored once in 21 appearances for the Championship strugglers and joins Albion on loan for the rest of the campaign.

Seagulls boss Dean Wilkins told the club's official website: "I watched him in October and spoke to Gary Waddock, who brought him to QPR. He speaks highly of him.

"He's a very attack-minded midfielder and he will bring much-needed competition to the squad."

Meanwhile, Bertin has joined Albion on a short-term deal running until the end of the season from Le Havre.

The 26-year-old had had a trial with Ipswich Town at the beginning of the current campaign.
