Slade lands defender Wright
31 Jul 2009 - 13:33:58
Brighton have won the race to sign Crawley Town's highly-rated defender Jake Wright for an undisclosed transfer fee.
The 23-year-old joins the Seagulls on a two-year deal and boss Russell Slade is delighted with his arrival at the Withdean Stadium.
The former Yeovil Town boss said: "We'd been aware of Jake for some time and we've had some very good reports on him.
"After he impressed last Friday night against us in our friendly with Crawley, Steve Evans kindly allowed us to take him on trial and he's done very well, both in training and in the game at Torquay on Tuesday.
"He's a left-sided defender, who can play at full-back or centre-half. He's an excellent athlete, a good talker and I'm expecting that he'll prove himself as a quality player."
