Seagulls swoop for Swans defender

The defender, 23, has made just six appearances for the Championship side this season following his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury. Seagulls boss Gus Poyet told the club's official website: "Marcos is a good signing for us and I am looking forward to working with him. "He knows the division having won promotion with Swansea and his arrival gives us good competition for places." Painter added: "I'm looking forward to the challenge at Brighton. I've spoken to Gus Poyet and I think he's looking at me as a centre-half as well. "I'm fully committed to the challenge and I really want to do a good job there."
