Seagulls swoop for Navarro
04 Aug 2009 - 13:24:39
Brighton & Hove Albion have signed Alan Navarro following a successful trial this summer.
The Liverpool academy product has agreed a two-year contract at the Withdean Stadium and could figure in Saturday's season-opener at home to Walsall.
The 28-year-old is much-travelled since leaving Anfield for Tranmere Rovers in 2002.
He made 48 appearances for the Prenton Park club, before longer spells with Macclesfield Town and most recently MK Dons, who released him at the end of last season.
He also had short spells with Crewe Alexandra, Chester City and Accrington Stanley.
"He's been excellent for us during pre-season and he gives us a different dimension in the midfield," said Seagulls boss Russell Slade.
"He's a very clever player and showed on Saturday just how he can make a team play."
Slade also said that young midfielder Jamie Smith is set to sign a contract with the club in the coming days.
