    Seagulls ponder Hammond op

    02 Apr 2007 - 16:32:24

Brighton captain Dean Hammond could be sidelined for the rest of the season if it is decided now is the best time for him to have a double hernia operation.

The 24-year-old midfielder missed the 2-0 victory at Northampton Town with a hamstring injury but he has also been troubled by a hernia problem since before Christmas.

Seagulls boss Dean Wilkins said: "If the medical staff say he's going to be out for four weeks then we'll get the operation done now."

Meanwhile, defender Joe O'Ceaurill has returned to Arsenal after injury curtailed the third month of his loan spell at the Withdean Stadium.

The 20-year-old made ten appearances for Brighton since joining the club at the beginning of January.
