Poyet hails his leaders
Brighton boss Gus Poyet felt his side had come through one of their sternest tests so far after a dramatic stoppage-time goal from Fran Sandaza put the Seagulls on top of League One.Albion went behind to a 30th-minute goal from Lewis Alessandra but equalised through Ashley Barnes a minute before the break. Spanish striker Sandaza's late goal then took Poyet`s new-look side to their highest league position for seven years."This was one of the most difficult games we've played so far," said the Uruguayan. "It was very physical but we showed the belief we need and it's a nice feeling to be top."We created the most chances so far in a single half. Oldham looked very fit and were a difficult team to play, but they spent the last 15 minutes defending."Barnes spurned three chances and also hit the post before scoring and Poyet added: "He could have had a hatful and scored from his most difficult chance."Meanwhile, Barnes stressed Brighton would not be getting carried away with hitting top-spot and said: "Securing the three points was the main thing. We've only played eight games and it will be a long hard season. My goal was possibly scored from my most difficult chance and we should really have put the game to bed earlier."
