Forster targets Seagulls spot

Veteran striker Nicky Forster has accepted that he is unlikely to be in the Brighton & Hove Albion starting eleven for the first game of the new season.

The 35-year-old has undergone knee surgery this summer and has played only a minor role in the club's pre-season programme.

He told The Argus: "There is a bit of bone bruising in there, which always causes some discomfort.

"But I had some cartilage removed and the medial ligament which was repaired is fine now.

"It's going to be difficult for me to stake a claim on that very first day, but I'll keep putting pressure on the manager.

"I am still keen and eager. When the knee has settled down 100 per cent I think I am good enough to play."
