Brighton & Hove Albion captain Nicky Forster has admitted that his side suffered a major reality check in their 4-1 home thrashing at the hands of Scunthorpe United.

The Seagulls went into the weekend action unbeaten in League One, but were torn apart by a rampant Iron outfit.

Forster told The Argus: "We will be working harder this week than we have for a few weeks I am sure and rightly so.

"We have been brought back down to earth with a bit of a bang.

"If we put it into perspective, we've had a good start to the season. Up until Saturday we were sitting in a nice position, but we've had a bit of a reality check.

"Let's not paper over the cracks. Scunthorpe are a good team and they beat us fairly.

"We were outfought, outplayed at times and contributed to our own downfall with some of their goals."
