Birthday boy Poyet hails win
16 Nov 2009 - 16:55:02
New Brighton & Hove Albion manager Gus Poyet has spoke out following his dream start to his reign at the South Coast outfit.
Poyet watched from the sidelines as the Seagulls defeated Southampton 3-1 on Sunday evening with Glenn Murray hitting a brace before a Andrew Crofts effort late in the day sealed the impressive victory.
What made it the more sweeter for the Uruguayan was that he was celebrating his 42nd birthday.
Speaking to The Argus, a delighted Poyet said: "There is no better way to start your managerial career than winning your first game anywhere, but especially at Southampton.
"Before the game many people were thinking it was a really difficult game to get even a point, so I am very pleased with the performance and proud of the players because of the way they adapted to what we wanted after only two or three days of training."
