Adams aims broadside at ref
19 Nov 2008 - 10:40:49
Brighton boss Micky Adams was unhappy with the referee after his side's FA Cup exit at the hands of Hartlepool United at Victoria Park.
The Seagulls were on course to play Fleetwood in the second round after Nicky Forster had given them the lead, but Danny Wilson's side hit back to win 2-1 after being awarded a controversial penalty for Colin Hawkins' challenge on Joel Porter.
A livid Adams said after the game: "The referee hasn't given it and, looking at the DVD, he's in an ideal position. But the linesman, in his wisdom, has put his flag up.
"It's the first time one of the assistants had helped the referee, because he certainly needed some help tonight.
"I asked him what it was for and he said it was for a push. It was the turning point of the game."
Meanwhile, Adams has pleaded guilty to an FA charge of misconduct for comments he made to the referee in the goalless draw at Peterborough United.
