Brighton have snapped up the Falkirk midfielder Steven Thomson for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half year contract.
The 29-year-old Bairns captain, who played for Crystal Palace and Peterborough United earlier in his career before moving to Scotland, is an important acquisition, according to Seagulls chairman Dick Knight.
He told Albion's official website: "We're delighted to sign a player of Steve's quality.
"Falkirk were reluctant to let him go, but we've been working on this deal for some time and are pleased to finally get our man.
"He'll bring experience and box-to-box endeavour to our midfield."
