Brighton goalkeeper Michel Kuipers is recovering at home following a car crash, with the Seagulls breathing a sigh of relief that the Dutchman avoided serious injury.

Kuipers was cut from the wreckage of his vehicle following the collision, but is happily able to continue his recovery at home following hospital check-ups.

Albion physio Malcolm Stuart told the club's official website: "Michel knows he was very lucky. There's a degree of shock and he will need time for that to clear his system.

"Structurally there are no serious injuries, but he's had several stitches and is very sore and uncomfortable muscularly. The club doctor is checking him over and will continue to monitor him over the weekend.

"We'll get him into the training ground on Monday or Tuesday and assess the situation further."
