Oatway suffers setback

26 Jul 2007 - 15:13:26

Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Charlie Oatway has suffered a setback in his recovery from injury.

The 33-year-old has torn a cartilage in his knee after only recently returning to action after 18 months out with an ankle injury.

Seagulls physio Malcolm Stuart told the club's official website: "Charlie's knee became sore after one of the friendlies, then settled down a bit.

"He played at Billericay last Saturday and was in discomfort afterwards. He had a scan on Monday and it discovered a torn cartilage.

"It's desperately bad timing. Normally you'd be looking at four to six weeks until he could resume full training. It could be sooner but as yet I don't know how much cartilage was removed."
