Veteran defender Guy Butters has agreed a new one-year contract with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Butters, who moved to the Withdean from Gillingham in 2002, made 38 appearances for the Seagulls last season and has been handed a new 12-month contract by manager Dean Wilkins.

"As you get older you want to secure as much as you can, but because of my age, I'm delighted to get another year," the 37-year-old told the club's official website

"I missed pre-season and the start of this season with a back injury, but hopefully I'll get a good one under my belt and have a good campaign."
