Brighton plan to enter the transfer market to find a new goalkeeper after Michels Kuipers suffered a shoulder injury during Saturday's goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.
With Ben Roberts already ruled out for the rest of the season, 19-year-old Chris May is the only fit goalkeeper on the books at the Withdean Stadium.
May made his debut as a late substitute against Forest, but the Seagulls' assistant-manager Bob Booker believes they need a more experienced number one.
"Chris was there as the second keeper on Saturday, he came on, and that was great for him," Booker told the club's official website.
"But no disrespect to Chris, we're going to Leeds United on Saturday and we need a more experienced keeper who can come straight into the first team.
"We've got a couple of irons in the fire and we've made a couple of enquiries, and we should know more soon."
Kuipers will undergo a MRI scan on his shoulder on Monday afternoon to assess the seriousness of the injury, but the club have already confirmed he will be sidelined for at least three weeks.
