Sean Thornton struck the decisive blow at Brisbane Road as the hosts moved out of the bottom four with victory at the expense of their relegation rivals. Slade, after his first game in charge, said: "I don't think we deserved that on the balance of play. I'm really pleased with the attitude, we really put in a shift and had a real go at it. "I think there are things that I can help the team with. That's what I have learnt. Things that will tighten things up a little bit. "It wasn't easy for the new players and to be fair they got a grip on the game fairly well. I thought we were the stronger side in the first period in terms of possession. "It wasn't easy sometimes as there were one or two communication problems which you would expect with five new players in the team."
