Seagulls boss targets a left-back

Former Seagull Dan Harding had been training with the club but has opted to join Southampton, while Joel Lynch this week completed his move to Nottingham Forest. And with Jim McNulty not due back from his kidney injury until September at the earliest, Slade is now light in the full-back department. "We have got to address the left-back position, at least in the short-term," said Slade. "It has been an ongoing process, rebuilding the squad, and that is still going on. "Jim is making really good progress but he is not going to make the start of the season, so it is a concern for us. Dan has been offered an unbelievable deal by Southampton which he couldn't turn down, so good luck to him." Meanwhile, veteran striker Nicky Forster is in line for his first pre-season action against Crawley Town on Friday night after recovering from knee surgery.
