Seagulls are rising - Slade

The former Reading forward stooped to nod in captain Adam Virgo's cross for his second of the season in the 68th minute to cancel out Jason Price's opener and end a run of back-to-back defeats. Brighton had shipped 11 goals in their previous two games and the signs were ominous after Price's early strike, but Slade pointed to the character of his side as the back four emerged with credit. "We've had a difficult start to the season with so many personnel changes, 17 gone and 12 new bodies in, and players playing with different partners either at centre-half or in midfield," he said. "There are signs that we're going in the right direction and in the second half we could have won it. "I think you saw a side that is not a bottom four side, it's a side that's got huge potential and when players gel we'll improve and move up the league. "This result speaks volumes for our character as it would've been easy to roll over after the early goal, but they're not that type."
