Poyet waits on Painter

Brighton boss Gus Poyet could have defender Marcos Painter available when his side go in search of their fourth successive league win against Tranmere at the Withdean Stadium. The Seagulls left-back had to be stretchered off in the 80th minute of Tuesday night's 1-0 win at Brentford after suffering a nasty kick to the head, but is expected to recover in time to retain his place in the starting line-up. Fellow defender Adam El-Abd is pushing for a recall on his return from a two-match ban, and will fight it out with Tommy Elphick for the right to partner Gordon Greer at the centre of Albion's defence. Defender Jim McNulty (ankle) and midfielder Jamie Smith (foot) both remain sidelined as they continue their recovery from long-term injuries.
