Poyet set to sign Seagulls deal

Brighton manager Gus Poyet has played down speculation linking him with the vacant post at Swansea by claiming he is "very close" to signing a new deal at the Withdean Stadium. The Uruguayan was a contender for the Swans position a year ago before the Welsh club opted for Paulo Sousa, who left on Monday to hold talks with Leicester about replacing Nigel Pearson at the Walkers Stadium. But Poyet, who guided the Seagulls to League One safety last season, said: "I would say it is practically impossible. I am very close to signing a four-year deal here and everything is agreed."
