Poyet outlines rivals

Brighton manager Gus Poyet has named Huddersfield and Southampton as the main threats to his team gaining promotion from League One this season. The Seagulls currently sit at the top of English football's third tier three points clear of second-placed Sheffield Wednesday, four ahead of the Terriers, who beat them 2-1 on Saturday and currently sit third, while the Saints are eight points adrift of Albion at the moment occupying 9th position. Poyet told the Argus: "Probably right now you are talking about seven or eight teams in contention for promotion. Until we get down to the last 10 games you cannot be sure who is going to be there for automatic promotion. "We were expecting it to be Huddersfield and Southampton right at the beginning, because of the budgets and the players they have got. We'll see. It's difficult to make an opinion now, in the positions they are in, but long-term they should be the two best teams in the division. I haven't changed my mind about that at all." On the Owls, he added: "I suppose they are going to be better without a doubt (after their takeover) but it is too early to tell."
