Poyet offers Bennett assurance

The winger was rested for the FA Cup win at Torquay last time out, while Poyet is believed to be ready to sign Carole on a week-to-week deal.

But Poyet told The Argus: "We have got players who have been playing in practically every game apart from the cup, like Tommy Elphick and Elliott.

"Just because Seb is here it doesn't mean Elliott is under pressure. It is just to make the squad and the team better and it is about how people react."

Bennett added: "Obviously I want to play every game but the manager knows best and he thought a rest would do me good. I was happy to be rested rather than dropped."
