Poyet: Let's seal promotion

30 March 2011 11:00
Brighton manager Gus Poyet called for his side to seal promotion to the Championship as soon as possible after seeing them record an eighth straight win at Dagenham. The Seagulls moved 13 points clear at the top of League One after Craig Noone crossed for Glenn Murray to volley in the only goal from six yards. Poyet said: "We're getting closer, the idea is to finish it, if we can, the sooner the better, because we're getting to a point where everybody's getting excited about it, the difference with the rest is getting bigger, so we keep going. "I cannot ask for more. I thought March would be the key month for us to make it or maybe to fail and we won the eight games in March, so I cannot ask for more. "One thing I'm happy about is we tried to play. On this pitch you cannot play, but we tried. We tried for 40 minutes, we tried to pass it, but we made so many mistakes trying to play one and two touch football. In the end we had to change it. "If you have a decent pitch you can play football. Of course you need to adapt to the situations, we didn't really play well, but somehow we got the result."
