Poyet issues Brighton warning

Gus Poyet has urged his players not to let the FA Cup distract them from winning promotion after Brighton beat npower Championship outfit Watford 1-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Ashley Barnes' 11th goal of the season put the League One leaders through to the last 16, but Poyet insisted afterwards that the league remains his top priority. "Sometimes when you are in the middle of any division you really pay attention to the cup; sometimes when you are at the top you need to be careful not to get carried away with the FA Cup and forget about the league," the Uruguayan said. "At the moment the players are focused, they are convinced we can do anything in both competitions. "I saw what happened to Leeds last year, they were beating Premiership teams and during the month were losing every single game in the league. "I didn't want that. At the moment we are not doing it so I am pleased, but I hope it doesn't change because the priority is to get up."
