Magpies clash off

Brighton`s League One match against Notts County at the Withdean Stadium has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. Despite the majority of the pitch having been deemed playable by referee Phil Crossley, the game was called off at 6.30pm after an area in the penalty box was unsafe. Crossley told seagulls.co.uk: "It was a very close call. 95% of the field of play was playable and the greatest concern was a small area in the penalty box. Despite the fact we have had heated lights and a blower to try and thaw the pitch, it has not had the impact that we wanted. "Despite the efforts of the ground staff, who have put in a tremendous amount of effort, unfortunately we have got to err on the side of caution." No new date has been confirmed.
