El-Abd hoping for snowball effect
The Seagulls finally picked up their first win of the new campaign against Wycombe on Saturday courtesy of Nicky Forster's second-half strike.
And El-Abd believes the future looks rosy with Russell Slade's new-look squad beginning to gel.
He said: "It's been a slow start so that was a must-win game for us. But we're improving, working hard for each other and moving in the right direction.
"It was quite a close game but we got the goal and held on.
"Now, with our first win, we have something to build on and hopefully it will snowball into something special."
