Brighton striker Chris Holroyd admits he was not expecting to make his first start so quickly. The 23-year-old, signed from Cambridge United on an 18-month deal in January, replaced Glenn Murray in the starting XI against Huddersfield on Tuesday.

He told BBC Sussex: "I didn't expect to start this early, especially with Glenn doing really well scoring.

"It was a surprise for me but the gaffer said he wanted to shake things up a bit, wanted to try something new."

He added: "Since I've come in here I've just tried to train well.

"It's a very big month, we're loitering around the relegation zone, pick up a few wins and it could fire us right back up the league."
