Davies escapes further punishment

The Seagulls went down to their third pre-season defeat thanks to Scott Rendell's 38th-minute goal at Plainmoor, where Davies was shown a straight red card late on following a scuffle with Mark Ellis. But a change in the Football League disciplinary procedures this summer mean Davies will only miss one match through suspension - against Scunthorpe on Saturday. Manager Russell Slade told the club's official website: "We've been very fortunate not to lose Craig for any league games, although we would have fought that anyway. "But we have been lucky because none of the video replays caught the incident, so we wouldn't have been able to challenge the sending off."
