Sussex Police are to look into an alleged racist incident during Brighton's game at Derby on Saturday.

Brighton goalkeeper David Stockdale reported on Twitter that one of his team-mates had been racially abused. He received a response from PC Darren Balkham, Sussex Police's football intelligence and liaison officer for Brighton.

Stockdale wrote on his Twitter feed: "Disgusted that a derby fan today racially abused one of our players... No place in the world should any person have to take that! #kickitout"

PC Balkham responded to Stockdale's post, saying: " I am aware of this incident having been contacted post match. I will liaise with colleagues from Derbyshire police." Stockdale replied thanking PC Balkham.

The match at the iPro Stadium finished in a 2-2 draw, with Chris Martin's late penalty earning Derby a point.
