Loft, 22, who signed for Brighton from Hastings in 2006 is a former England schoolboy international and has made nine appearances for the Seagulls this season.

Daggers manager John Still said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have signed Doug Loft. He's someone that I have wanted to get for a while.

"I watched him a few times last season and I spoke to Micky Adams at various times about him. Micky and I have kept in touch and although Doug's not always been included in their starting line up he's been on the bench."

Daggers midfielders Peter Gain recently had surgery to resolve knee cartilage damage, while Shane Huke has returned to Australia due to a family matter.
