O'Grady set for Seagulls start

Sami Hyppia is expected to hand Chris O'Grady his first start when Brighton begin their 2014/15 Sky Bet Championship campaign against Sheffield Wednesday at the Amex Stadium.

A summer signing from Barnsley, O'Grady will face his old club if selected and could join David Stockdale and Aaron Hughes in making their Seagulls debuts.

However, fourth new arrival Nzuzi Toko is unlikely to start after missing out on most of pre-season with a knee problem.

Midfielder Dale Stephens continues to struggle with an ankle injury that has hampered his Brighton career so far since arriving from Charlton in January.

Sheffield Wednesday trio Lewis Buxton, Jeremy Helan and Caolan Lavery will all miss out.

Defender Buxton strained his knee during training, midfielder Helan is ahead of schedule as he works his way back from a groin/stomach problem and striker Lavery will be sidelined for two to three months with a cruciate ligament injury.

But summer signings Tom Lees and Slovenian Dejan Kelhar are in contention to make their competitive debuts and fellow defender Kamil Zayatte is fit again following ankle surgery that kept him out for the second half of last season.

New goalkeeper Keiren Westwood also hopes to be involved, while Glenn Loovens will lead the side having been appointed captain during pre-season.
