Barnes a no-go for Seagulls

Brighton will be without striker Ashley Barnes when they host Hull.

Barnes was sent off during the first half of last Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday and starts a three-match ban.

Craig Mackail-Smith came on at half-time at Hillsborough and is likely to start in attack in Barnes' absence.

Winger Will Buckley will be included if he passes a fitness test on the hamstring problem which kept him out against the Owls.

Skipper Gordon Greer remains sidelined with a hamstring injury so January loan signing Matt Upson continues at the back alongside Adam El-Abd, who represented Egypt in midweek.

Bruno was on the bench last weekend after six weeks out with an Achilles problem and could replace fellow Spaniard Inigo Calderon at right-back.

Hull defender Abdoulaye Faye has been ruled out of the clash and manager Steve Bruce is undecided on whether to hand Egyptian pair Ahmed Fathi and Gedo their debuts.

Faye was forced out of last week's win at Millwall with a calf strain and replaced by Jack Hobbs, who is expected to continue.

Fathi and Gedo, signed from Egyptian side Al-Ahly on loan until the end of the season, are hoping to be included.

"They arrived with us on Thursday and we'll take them down to Brighton with us," Bruce told a press conference.

"They're travelling with us, but they're straight off a plane and it's going to be a big ask of them.

"We'll have a training session with them (on Friday) and see what sort of shape they're in."

Midfielder David Meyler has been passed fit after having stitches in a cut knee last week and is likely to continue.

Bruce has no other injury or suspension worries as the Tigers look to climb back into the top two.
